Mr. Hatala, who has served as the system’s CEO since 1998, resigned to assume a state-wide position with Catholic Health East-New Jersey, according to the report. He will continue to serve as chairman of the New Jersey Hospital Association, a position he assumed this winter.
The health system has begun a national search to find a successor.
