Beth Israel Lahey hospital names 2 C-suite leaders

Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport, Mass., part of Cambridge, Mass.-Beth Israel Lahey Health, has appointed two new executives to its leadership team, effective May 12.

Andrew Popelka Jr., MD, has been named chief medical officer and Megan Gray, DNP, RN, has been named chief nursing officer and COO, according to a May 12 hospital news release shared with Becker’s.

In his new role, Dr. Popelka will oversee the medical staff and play a key role in patient safety. He joined Beth Israel Lahey Health in 2017, most recently serving as medical director of population health at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Mass., the release said.

Dr. Gray will develop and lead strategic priorities for the hospital and oversee its daily operations. She previously served as an administrative nursing supervisor at Anna Jaques from 2010 to 2011. Over the past decade, she has held several leadership roles within HCA New England, including interim CEO and chief nursing officer of Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.H., the release said.

Anna Jaques Hospital is an 83-bed facility.
