Cambridge, Mass.-based Beth Israel Lahey Health has named Peter Shorett as its next president and CEO, effective January 2027.
Mr. Shorett will succeed Kevin Tabb, MD, who announced in March that he plans to step down after leading the system since its formation in 2019. The board selected Mr. Shorett after a national search, according to a health system news release.
Mr. Shorett joined BILH in 2019 and has held several senior leadership roles, most recently senior executive vice president and COO. In that role, he led the system’s performance, growth and strategy and helped create the cancer collaboration among Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians. Before joining BILH, he was a senior partner at Chartis, where he helped plan the system’s formation.
As CEO, Mr. Shorett will also oversee the ongoing integration of cancer care between BILH and Dana-Farber in Boston’s Longwood Medical Area, according to the release.
“I look forward to working alongside our outstanding teams to sustain the values that are the hallmarks of our system, while driving the transformation that is needed for our next chapter,” Mr. Shorett said in the release.
BILH has 39,000 employees and serves more than 2.1 million patients across eastern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.
