Phoenix-based Banner Health has appointed Mark Whalen executive vice president and chief enterprise growth officer, effective Aug. 1.
Four things to know:
1. In this role, Mr. Whalen will lead efforts to expand access and value-based care across Banner’s six-state footprint. He also will oversee enterprise transformation initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency, quality outcomes, financial performance and system integration.
2. He will oversee the system’s strategy and growth, government relations, marketing and public relations, and real estate management functions.
3. Mr. Whalen most recently served as executive vice president, enterprise chief strategy and transformation officer at Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health, according to his LinkedIn profile.
4. Banner operates 33 hospitals and more than 400 outpatient sites across Arizona, California, Colorado, Nebraska, Nevada and Wyoming. The nonprofit system serves more than 4 million patients annually and manages health insurance coverage for 1.2 million members.
