Banner Health taps chief AI, data and infrastructure officer

Phoenix-based Banner Health named John Almasan, PhD, senior vice president and chief artificial intelligence, data and infrastructure officer.

Effective June 1, Dr. Almansan will lead the system’s AI and technology efforts to make healthcare simple, faster and more accessible to providers and patients, according to a June 5 system news release. This includes coordinating technology foundation, data systems and AI capacities to improve patient care, streamline operations, support innovation and build a secure intelligent technology system.

Most recently, he served as senior managing director and global head of AI and emerging technology at TIAA, a financial services company.
