Macon, Ga.-based Atrium Health Navicent has named Elmer Polite president, effective in September.
Mr. Polite will oversee the health system’s hospitals and care sites across Central Georgia, including Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center in Macon, Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin in Milledgeville and Atrium Health Navicent Peach in Byron, according to an Aug. 26 news release.
He most recently served as division president for Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health’s Division I, where he oversaw 25 hospitals across 10 states.
Mr. Polite joined Lifepoint in 2021 and previously served as CFO of its eastern division before being named president of the division in 2023. In that role, he oversaw acute care hospitals in Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Virginia, including facilities that are part of Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture with Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System.
Before Lifepoint, Mr. Polite served as chief financial executive for Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health’s Midlands market, where he oversaw financial management and operations for six hospitals. He also held leadership roles with Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare’s Macon market, East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro and Trinity Hospital of Augusta.
Atrium Health Navicent is part of Charlotte, N.C.-based Advocate Health and operates more than 50 facilities across Central and South Georgia, according to its website.
