Jackson Hospital in Montgomery, Ala., appointed John Quinlivan as CEO and named a new three-member board of trustees to guide its restructuring amid bankruptcy.
The new board assumed leadership Oct. 31 and is tasked with guiding financial recovery, infrastructure repairs, payer contract improvements and operational resets, according to a Nov. 3 hospital news release. The hospital sought Chapter 11 protection in February.
The board selected Mr. Quinlivan as its first official action, effective Nov. 3. He previously spent 19 years with Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, where he oversaw hospitals in Florida and Georgia.
Charles Evans was named chair of the board. He previously served as president of HCA Healthcare’s Eastern Group, overseeing more than 120 hospitals. Jeff Crudele, a former CFO of Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Health Network with more than 30 years of experience, and Gary Murphey, an executive with more than 35 years of experience in financially distressed organizations, also joined the board.
Jackson Hospital continues to operate during bankruptcy through a $25 million debtor-in-possession loan from Jackson Investment Group, which has no corporate affiliation with the hospital.
In October, the Montgomery City Council unanimously voted to approve a nonbinding resolution of intent to aid Jackson Hospital.
