Alabama health system names chief medical officer

Dothan, Ala.-based Southeast Health has named Ravi Nallamothu, MD, chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs.

In the role, Dr. Nallamothu will provide clinical leadership across the organization, working with physicians, advanced practice providers and care teams to advance quality, patient safety, physician engagement and patient care initiatives, according to a July 9 news release. As vice president of medical affairs, he will also serve as a liaison between the medical staff and administration.

Dr. Nallamothu joined Southeast Health in 2011 as a hospitalist and has since served as medical director of the Clinical Decision Unit, medical director of Hospital Medicine, chair of the Quality and Peer Review Committee, director of the Transitional Year Residency Program and chief health information officer, according to the release. He also serves on the board of directors of Statera Network, Southeast Health’s accountable care organization.
