Ms. Walsh has been executive vice president and chief operating officer of Brigham and Women’s Hospital for the past five years.
She will succeed Elaine Ullian, who has been wrestling with the medical center’s $38 million loss for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30, 2009, and a projected loss of $134 million for the current fiscal year.
