AHA Report Calls on Hospital Boards to Help Transform Healthcare

The American Hospital Association’s Center for Healthcare Governance released a report with suggestions for how hospitals’ and health systems’ boards can help transform healthcare, according to an AHA News Now report.

The report offers the following recommendations for boards, according to the release:

•    Identify and fill gaps in competency needed for transformation
•    Consider emerging governance models
•    Determine if board compensation is necessary or desirable
•    Ensure that trustee characteristics reflect the communities their organizations serve
•    Adopt a high-performance culture and best practices
•    Evaluate performance at all levels of governance
