Mr. Ashkenase’s previous leadership roles include serving as executive vice president at Montefiore Medical Center and CFO at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, both based in New York City.
Mr. Ashkenase is also an executive committee member of the Nassau Queens Performing Provider System, which includes New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health, Nassau University Medical Center and Buffalo, N.Y.-based Catholic Health.
Mr. Ashkenase assumed his role the same day the hospital’s board voted unanimously to fire President and CEO Victor Politi, MD. NuHealth, the public benefit corporation who oversees the hospital, voted earlier that day to restructure leadership at the hospital. Paul Pipia, MD, NUMC’s CMO, succeeded Dr. Politi on an interim basis.
As COO, Mr. Ashkenase will be at the forefront of the restructuring, The Island Now reports.
