David Banks began his new role as president and CEO of Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth in April, and the health system has made various leadership appointments and promotions as part of succession planning, a spokesperson confirmed to Becker’s.
AdventHealth said several experienced leaders were promoted into roles Mr. Banks previously held — particularly in strategy, the Primary Health Division and the Multi-State Division. Other experienced AdventHealth leaders have also filled positions those leaders left.
Here are the changes, which also include a recent market CEO appointment, per the health system:
1. Olesea Azevedo, executive vice president, chief administrative officer and chief people officer for AdventHealth, has assumed an expanded role as senior executive vice president, chief culture and transformation officer.
2. Audrey Gregory, PhD, RN, who was previously president and CEO of AdventHealth’s East Florida Division, was appointed to the elevated role of senior executive vice president and CEO of AdventHealth’s Multi-Division Delivery Network.
3. Rob Deininger, who most recently served as market CEO for the AdventHealth Central Florida Division’s quaternary hub, was appointed president and CEO for the seven-hospital AdventHealth East Florida Division.
4. Shelli Johnson, who most recently served as chief people officer for the AdventHealth Multi-State and Primary Health Divisions, was appointed executive vice president and chief people officer for AdventHealth.
5. Kari Vargas, who most recently served as CEO of AdventHealth Winter Garden (Fla.), was appointed CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division North Market.
6. Doug Harcombe was appointed CEO of AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division South Market, which encompasses AdventHealth Celebration, AdventHealth Kissimmee, AdventHealth East Orlando and AdventHealth Lake Nona, as well as affiliated freestanding emergency rooms. He previously served as CEO of AdventHealth Celebration, before overseeing the operations of the planned hospital at Lake Nona, AdventHealth said.
7. Seleem Choudhury, DNP, RN, who served as COO of Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Md., since 2021, was appointed president and CEO for UChicago Medicine AdventHealth GlenOaks in Glendale Heights, Ill.
