WellPoint Fires Executive Vice President

WellPoint executive vice president Dijuana Lewis has been fired by the Indianapolis- based insurance company, according to an Indianapolis Star report.

Ms. Lewis, who served as president and CEO of the company’s comprehensive health solutions unit, was “terminated without cause,” according to the report. She joined WellPoint, then known as Anthem, in 1996.

Samuel Nussbaum, MD, WellPoint’s CMO, will assume Ms. Lewis’ role on an interim basis. Ms. Lewis will stay with WellPoint through the end of 2010 to assist with the transition.
