21 Hospital and Health System Executive Moves

The following hospital executive moves occurred within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. CFO Richard N. Phillips of Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif., stepped down from his role.

2. Stony Brook (N.Y.) University Medical Center President and CEO Steven L. Strongwater, MD, will resign on Nov. 15.

3. Stamford (Conn.) Hospital promoted Executive Vice President and COO Kathleen Silard, RN, to also serve as chief nursing officer.

4. Glendale (Calif.) Adventist Medical Center named Kevin Roberts president and CEO, effective Dec. 5.

5. Paul Cardwell resigned as CEO of Powell Valley Healthcare in Powell, Wyo., last week but had a change of heart.

6. Cheri Barton was named CEO of Hillsboro (Kan.) Community Hospital.

7. Joshua Putter was appointed COO of Steward Health Care in Boston.

8. Todd Miller was named CEO and chief restructuring officer of Peninsula Hospital in Far Rockaway, N.Y.

9. Jamie Carter will join Memphis, Tenn.-based Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare as CEO of Methodist’s Olive Branch (Miss.) hospital, which will open in 2013.

10. Peter Weiss, MD, was appointed president of Florida Hospital Healthcare System, based in Orlando.

11. Jim Grocholski, CEO of Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Okla., was voted out of his position by the hospital’s Board of Control.

12. Eric Bour, MD, was appointed president of Greenville (S.C.) Hospital System University Medical Center’s Simpsonville (S.C.) Medical Campus.

13. Jeffrey Steinberg, MD, was appointed CEO at Weiss Memorial Hospital, a Vanguard Health System-owned facility in Chicago.

14. Ruth Brinkley, president and CEO of Carondelet Health Network in Tucson, Ariz., will step down from her post Oct. 16 to move to Washington, D.C.

15. Skip Philips decided to remain CEO of Memorial Hospital in Martinsville, Va., after announcing his resignation last month.

16. Carolyn Wilson was named president of the Amplatz Children’s Hospital and the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Fairview, both located in Minneapolis.

17. Michael Arno resigned as president and CEO of Provena St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, Ill.

18. HCA Midwest Health System, based in Kansas City, Mo., named Damond Boatwright CEO of Overland Park (Kan.) Regional Medical Center.

19. Paul Wiles, president and CEO of Novant Health in Winston-Salem, N.C., announced his plans to retire at the end of this year.

20. Daniel Aronzon, MD, president and CEO of Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., will retire at the end of the year.

21. Pam Maples, CEO of St. John’s Medical Center in Jackson, Wyo., announced her plans to retire at the end of October.
