21 Hospital and Health System Executive Moves

The following hospital executive moves occurred within the past week, beginning with the most recent.

1. Sandy Gomberg, president and CEO of Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, stepped down.

2. Donald J. Frederic was appointed CEO of Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center, a Capella Healthcare facility in Russellville, Ark.

3. The SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium, based in Sitka and Juneau, Alaska, appointed Charles Clement president and CEO.

4. Banner Health hired Stanley Adams as CFO for Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital, both located in Mesa, Ariz.

5. James Eastham, president and CEO of Valley Baptist Health, was promoted to vice president of Vanguard Health Systems, which entered into a joint venture with Valley Baptist Health last year. Meanwhile, Manny Vela, senior vice president and chief legal officer for Valley Baptist Health, has been appointed to succeed Mr. Eastham.

6. Southern Humboldt Healthcare District, based in Garberville, Calif., offered current administrator Harry Jasper a new contract.

7. The Board of Trustees of Iroquois Memorial Hospital and Resident Home in Watseka, Ill., announced the resignation of hospital CEO Greg Johnson.

8. Bruce Peterson, CEO of Rochelle (Ill.) Community Hospital, announced his resignation.

9. Mark Spektor, DO, was appointed president and CEO of Bayonne (N.J.) Medical Center.

10. St. John Medical Center in Westlake, Ohio, appointed William A. Young, Jr., president and CEO.

11. Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn., chose Don King as the new COO of the hospital.

12. Charles A. Stark was named president and CEO of Columbus Regional Healthcare System, based in Columbus, Ga.

13. James K. Beckmann was appointed president and CEO of Tucson, Ariz.-based Carondelet Health Network.

14. Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown, N.Y., named Jonathan Schiller as its chief operating officer.

15. Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, an HCA facility in Hudson, Fla., named Shalin Shah and Tom Lawhorne COO and CFO, respectively.

16. Michael Ashton was appointed administrator for Bayhealth’s Milford (Del.) Memorial Hospital.

17. Kenneth Dalebout was named chief administrative officer of Arroyo Grande (Calif.) Community Hospital, a Catholic Healthcare West facility.

18. Curtis A. Herrin was appointed CFO of Coliseum Health System, which is based in Macon, Ga.

19. Mary Quinn Crow, COO for Northfield (Minn.) Hospital & Clinics, will retire May 1, after 32 years of service to the hospital.

20. Dimensions Healthcare, based in Cheverly, Md., is expected to appoint Neil Moore as acting CEO.

21. Mark A. Frey was named president and CEO of the Alexian Brothers Health System, based in Arlington Heights, Ill.
