Donald Ashkenase (Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y.). Mr. Ashkenase serves as executive vice president-corporate for Montefiore Medical Center. In this role, he plays a key financial leadership role for the medical center. Mr. Ashkenase has been with Montefiore since 1987 and previously served as first vice president-finance and CFO at the New York City Health and Hospitals Corp. and as CFO at Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Mr. Ashkenase served for several years in the U.S. Air Force as a hospital administrator and received a master’s degree from Wagner College in New York City. Mr. Ashkenase currently serves as an adjunct assistant professor at the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
Larry Hudson (Charleston Area Medical Center, Charleston, W.Va.). Mr. Hudson is executive vice president and CFO at CAMC. Mr. Hudson joined CAMC in 1999 and previously held the same titles with Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla. Mr. Hudson earned a bachelor of business administration degree in accounting and finance from the State University of West Georgia in 1971.
Catherine Jacobson (Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, Ill.). Ms. Jacobson is CFO and treasurer at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. Ms. Jacobson, whose career at Rush began in 1996, previously served as vice president for program evaluation, assistant to the president and chief compliance officer for Rush before being named acting CFO in 2002. Prior to assuming this role, she served as vice president for finance for Rush Prudential Health Plans. Ms. Jacobson is chairman elect for the Healthcare Financial Management Association. She earned a bachelor’s in accounting from Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
Phyllis Lantos (New York-Presbyterian Hospital, New York City, N.Y.). Ms. Lantos is executive vice president, treasurer and CFO at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. Ms. Lantos joined the system in 2000 as senior vice president and CFO and was named executive vice president in 2007. She previously served as deputy chief operating officer at Yale University School of Medicine and as vice president of financial management services at Montefiore Medical Center. Ms. Lantos earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Ralph Lawson (Baptist Health South Florida, Coral Gables, Fla.). Mr. Lawson is executive vice president and CFO for five-hospital Baptist Health South Florida and has nearly 30 years of healthcare financial experience. Mr. Lawson previously served with Catholic Health Services and was a partner with Deloitte. Mr. Lawson, who joined Baptist Health in 1989, earned his bachelor’s from the University of Colorado School of Business and his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Lawson is a national director of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He is also chairman of the board of Catholic Health Services in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Lori Mitchell (Harborview Medical Center, Seattle). Ms. Mitchell has been senior administrator for finance and CFO since 1998 at 413-bed Harborview, a regional trauma and academic medical center owned by King County and managed by the University of Washington. Prior to serving Harborview, she worked as regional administrator and CFO for PacifiCare Health Systems and was a past board member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. Ms. Mitchell earned her bachelor’s degree from Oregon State University.
