CFO Carolyn Allen: Southcoast Health System's Budgeter-in-Chief

Carolyn Allen became vice president and CFO of Southcoast Hospitals Group and Southcoast Health System in Fall River, Mass., in February 2012, and she has continued to keep the three-hospital system's finances stable.

Carolyn Allen is CFO of Southcoast Health System.Moody's Investors Service recently issued a report on Southcoast in which it affirmed the system's A2 bond rating and promising outlook in the near term.

As of March 31, 2012, right after Ms. Allen joined, Southcoast had 239 days cash on hand and 246 percent cash-to-debt ratio. Ms. Allen has also overseen stronger overall performance through the first six months of fiscal year 2012, as the health system reported an operating cash flow margin of 7.5 percent compared with 6.3 percent in the first six months of FY 2011.

Prior to joining Southcoast, Ms. Allen was CFO of Sharon (Conn.) Hospital. She has also served as CFO of Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester, Ky., and of St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kan.
