CEO Dr. Steve Allen: Keeping Ohio Children Healthy at Nationwide Children's Hospital

Steve Allen, MD, is the CEO of Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He joined Nationwide Children's in 2006.

Nationwide Children's Hospital is the fourth largest and fourth busiest children's hospital in the U.S., according to the hospital's website. On top of overseeing the hospital, Dr. Allen is also in charge of the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital, Nationwide Children's Hospital Foundation and The Center for Family Safety and Healing at Nationwide Children's Hospital.

Dr. Allen has a passion for population health and wellness. Under his leadership, the hospital's 2010-2015 strategic plan aims to create optimal health for every child in the community. He has led the hospital to form new community partnerships, including collaborations to fight childhood obesity and prematurity.

Under his leadership, the hospital has doubled in size. Dr. Allen oversaw the completion of new clinical and research facilities.

Before he joined Nationwide Children's, Dr. Allen was a physician, teacher and executive at Texas Medical Center in Houston. He is board certified in anesthesiology and critical care medicine. He currently serves on several local and national boards.
