Western Connecticut Health Network boosts mental health telemedicine offerings

After launching its mental health telemedicine program last December, Danbury-based Western Connecticut Health Network is increasing its offerings, according to The Herald.

On Oct. 24, WCHN will start offering patients free therapy through a $100,000 program purchased from Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Magellan Health. The program will include anxiety, depression and insomnia services.

Patients who elect to use the service will be able to access Magellan's program from any location where a WiFi connection is available. Each session will last between 30 and 45 minutes.

"This gives us a tool that is as effective as medicine and that patients can keep with them ... they will be able to use this throughout their lifetime," said Tait Michael, MD, a psychiatrist working with WCHN.
