Warby Parker leverages iPhone X’s face scanning tech to recommend eyeglass purchases

Online eyeglasses retailer Warby Parker, which mails customers samples to try on prior to purchase, developed an iPhone X app that uses its face scanning technology to make eyeglass recommendations, according to CNBC.

The app exploits the iPhone X’s 3-D face scanner to pair users facial measurements with eyeglasses Warby Parker deems size appropriate. It does not, however, virtually superimpose the glasses on the user.

Warby Parker’s newest feature goes a step beyond its previously digital try-on offer, in which customers would upload a photo of themselves online and the website would place a virtual pair of glasses on it.
