North Country Hospital joins six other pilot sites in Vermont in sharing patient records electronically. Bigger hospitals plan to be connected to the exchange by the end of the year, according to the report.
The HIE program was led by Vermont Information Technology Leaders, a nonprofit organization. “It’s very exciting work for us,” said John Evans, CEO of VITL, in the report. “It’s a culmination of first helping healthcare providers move from a paper healthcare environment into an electronic environment…then building the network.”
