UTHealth, Cerner launch data science competition to tackle sepsis & 9 other health IT notes

Here's the latest roundup of stories about health IT companies, including Anthenahealth, Cerner and Deep Labs.

1. American Medical Association innovation arm Health2047 unveiled its new community-focused and analytics-driven Medicare Advantage plan, which aims to addresses social determinants of health.

2. Veradigm, Allscripts' payer and life sciences division, formed an agreement to link its ambulatory EHR data with Komodo Health's clinical encounters datasets platform to help researchers develop new ways to reduce disease burden.

3. Cerner is teaming up with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Biomedical Informatics on a competition that aims to develop ways to use de-identified data to improve patient safety and care.

4. Integrated Regional Laboratories in Florida began notifying around 30,000 patients that their health information may have been exposed in the American Medical Collection Agency data breach.

5. SimplyVital Health, a healthcare-focused blockchain company, agreed Aug. 13 to pay the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission $6.3 million to settle allegations about an unauthorized initial coin offering.
