Omaha-based University of Nebraska Medical Center will transition oversight of select IT services to the University of Nebraska System Information Technology Services.

The move follows the planned departure of Frank Bogatz, UNMC’s chief academic technology officer, who will step down Aug. 20.

While core IT functions at UNMC — including networking, data center operations, cybersecurity and email — will remain with Nebraska Medicine IT, NU ITS will support specific services such as Canvas learning tools and IT support request management, according to an Aug. 18 news release.

UNMC Interim Chancellor H. Dele Davies, MD, said the transition would ensure uninterrupted support while enabling greater collaboration across the NU system. Anne Barnes, UNMC’s vice chancellor for business, finance and business development, also credited Mr. Bogatz for his contributions to IT coordination.

Mr. Blackman said he and his team will meet with key UNMC stakeholders during the transition and emphasized the goal of aligning IT services with broader NU system strategies.
