RightScale polled nearly 1,000 technical professionals from various industries in January for its survey on cloud adoption. The margin of sampling error for all respondents is plus or minus 3.08 percentage points.
Public cloud adoption rose from 89 percent in 2017 to 92 percent in 2018. In this year’s survey, respondents said they run 40 percent of workloads in public clouds.
Here are seven popular public cloud providers, ranked by the percentage of respondents running applications on their service:
1. Amazon Web Services: 64 percent
2. Microsoft’s Azure: 45 percent
3. Google Cloud: 18 percent
4. IBM Cloud: 10 percent
5. VMware Cloud on AWS: 8 percent
6. Oracle Cloud: 6 percent
7. Alibaba Cloud: 2 percent
