The 10 best and worst states for gender equity in the tech workforce

Georgia, Maryland and North Carolina all lead the charge for having the most equal gender ratios in their tech workforces, but the gap across the rest of the nation remains large, according to a May 2022 report from data company eIMPACT.

The report compiled information from several data sources, including Zillow and the Bureau of Labor Statistics to generate an analysis of 27,246 points. To generate information on the gender gaps, the researchers used the difference between the number of men and number of women in the tech workforce of a state to calculate the difference in gender of workers as a percentage. They then compared the gender gap across states that are experiencing the highest growth in tech employees.
