Christopher McLean, acting administrator of the Rural Utilities Service at the USDA, said he hopes the grants will support rural communities that lack the necessary broadband infrastructure for remote communication programs.
USDA will accept various proposals for the telehealth grants. However, officials plan to allot a significant portion of funding toward those that address the opioid epidemic.
