Through the Union of Syrian Medical Relief Organizations and the Syrian American Medical Society, the U.S. surgeons are providing guidance and consultations to overwhelmed providers, with each monitoring up to five surgeries a day, according to the report.
“Sometimes we get sophisticated cases. So we consult with doctors in the West,” said a Syrian physician in the report.
