The company was supposed to perform heart monitoring services in the U.S., and BioTelemetry faces allegations that clinicians in India were not properly certified in performing the monitoring, according to a Dec. 21 news release from law firm Ross Feller Casey.
Fewer than 3 percent of the technicians who reviewed the data of the U.S. Medicare patients were properly certified, the release said.
The fraud allegations came to light through a whistleblower lawsuit brought against the company by Ross Feller Casey on behalf of former employees.
