Psychotherapy was the most common service provided by social workers via telehealth according to data from Fair Health. Social workers filed more than 28 percent of telehealth claim lines in January 2022, followed by primary care physicians at 17 percent.
Mental health diagnoses also made up for almost 60 percent of all claims diagnosis via telemedicine, and psychologists and psychiatrists were also major service providers. Nationally, 3 in 5 of the top telehealth claim lines were mental health related, suggesting the strong desire for such services in a virtual setting.
