Sanford rolls out self-scheduling for virtual health

Patients at Sioux Falls, S.D.-based Sanford Health can now use the My Sanford Chart website or app to schedule a virtual behavioral health appointment, keloland.com reported March 14.

The health system aims for the program to boost mental healthcare in rural areas and help with the shortage of available mental health clinicians.

“We have people out there who really need help who just can’t get it, and even if they could, they might be driving six hours to get care. This way, we are coming to them instead of them coming to us. That makes a huge difference,” David Ermer, MD, a psychiatrist with Sanford Health, told keloland.com.
