Chicago-based Rush University System for Health plans to launch a virtual health membership service over the summer.
The on-demand program will allow members to connect with Rush providers by live chat or phone, as well as access virtual urgent care, seven days a week. The platform will be available for a “low monthly fee, about the same as three lattes or a streaming service,” the health system said in a May update.
“We’ll help schedule your specialty referrals, and your urgent care visits are shared with your primary care provider for easy follow-up,” Rush said in the update.
Other health systems, as well as disruptors like Amazon, have rolled out similar services in recent years.
