The new bills are a response to proposed legislation that would have introduced requirements for telehealth insurance coverage. The telehealth bill was introduced to the Massachusetts Legislature in summer 2018 but did not receive approval before the legislative session ended.
The four bills are:
1. HB 1002: An Act Expanding Access to Telemedicine Services
2. HB 1001: An Act Relative to Behavioral Health Telemedicine
3. HB 991: An Act Advancing and Expanding Access to Telemedicine Services
4. HB 1095: An Act Enhancing Access to Telemedicine Services
Legislators also unveiled a fifth bill, HB 917: An Act to Facilitate the Provision of Telehealth Services, which would not require payers to provide coverage for telehealth services.
