GDPH, which uses Cisco-powered telepresence technology, has connected all 159 of its counties to the telemedicine network, said Suleima Salgado, GDPH telehealth, telemedicine and rural health initiatives director, according to the report.
“We use [the telemedicine network] for a variety of services, whether it just be one-on-one consultations, breastfeeding education, nutrition education and professional development, distance learning for our nursing staff,” Ms. Salgado said. “But we also use it for two-way video for patient education, behavioral health [and] mental health consultations.”
The state department currently has 28 telemedicine programs in effect across Georgia.
