Ascension, based in St. Louis, is adding telehealth services for maternal health at two of its Florida hospitals.
The telehealth maternity care program launched at Ascension Sacred Heart Pensacola and Jacksonville-based Ascension St. Vincent’s.
Developed in partnership with the Florida Department of Health, the program offers “personalized support throughout pregnancy and up to one year after birth at no cost,” according to an Oct. 14 news release. Referred families will be paired with a dedicated patient navigator who will help them access prenatal and postpartum services, both in-person and virtually.
The expansion aims to reduce premature births, low birth weights and maternal complications by expanding access to care in northwest and northeast Florida — regions where limited healthcare access has contributed to higher-than-average infant mortality rates, according to the release.
Services available through the program include health education, medical device access, and referrals to housing, transportation, nutrition counseling and other wraparound support.
