Four notes:
1. The law will go into effect Jan. 1, 2021.
2. Telehealth services such as remote patient monitoring and asynchronous telehealth, a method that healthcare providers use to share patient medical information with a physician or care member at another institution, will be covered under the new law.
3. The state’s prior telehealth coverage law contained numerous restrictions on virtual care services covered.
4. The new law requires all healthcare specialties be covered by insurance; Arizona’s previous telemedicine law restricted insurance coverage to a limited number of specialties, including cardiology, dermatology and mental health.
