The startup, Stat, connects providers and ambulance companies through an app that allows providers to enter a pickup and destination address and the type of medical transportation needed, and then allows the nearest idle ambulance to answer the call, with payment handled through the app, according to the report.

Stat currently operates in Philadelphia, but aims to expand, according to the report.
