Southern Alabama Medical Center Saves $1.7M With Electronic Order Sets

A Wolters Kluwer-sponsored Health IDC Health Insights study showed that using electronic order sets for CPOE resulted in $1.7 million increase in clinical and administrative staff productivity and operating profits at Southern Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, according to a Healthcare IT News report.

The hospital used ProVation Order Sets from Wolters Kluwer to replace the paper-based ordering sets. After 15.4 months, the hospital realized payback on its investment and achieved an annual savings of $1.3 million in increased physician productivity.
