The Marketplace, which is available on RI REC’s website, allows physicians to peruse a list of pre-qualified EHR software vendors and technical service consultants. To qualify to be on the Marketplace, vendor applicants were evaluated on business stability, strategy to meet meaningful use objectives, experience in the Rhode Island EHR market and commitment to offer discounted prices.
RECs were created last year under the HITECH portion of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to provide technical assistance and support to healthcare providers switching from paper-based medical practice to EHRs.
