In 2009, almost half, 48 percent, of primary care physicians were “very dissatisfied” with their EHR’s ability to decrease workloads. In the most recent survey, conducted in the first quarter of 2014, just 8 percent of primary care physicians considered themselves “very dissatisfied” with this metric. Additionally, 39 percent of general practitioners reported returning to normal levels of productivity following their EHR rollout, and satisfaction was boosted further through meaningful use attestation and improved client support.
This increased satisfaction is shown in an uptick in the number of providers who would recommend their EHR vendor to a colleague — currently, 52 percent would, up from 13 percent just six months ago.
Results are based on responses from 2,000 primary care practitioners.
