PwC names 8 technologies poised to disrupt the US healthcare industry

From digitizing the supply chain to improving surgical guidance, innovative technologies are poised to disrupt the U.S. healthcare industry, according to a PwC Health Research Institute report.

Here are eight key technologies for the healthcare industry to watch over the next decade:

  • Artificial intelligence
  • Augmented reality
  • Blockchain
  • Drones
  • Internet of Things
  • Robots
  • Virtual reality
  • 3-D printing

"Healthcare organizations should avoid making the common mistake of adopting technologies individually, as point solutions, rather than exploring how they work together," according to the PwC report. "The best value for all of these will be when they are applied in coordination with one another, or in coordination with services delivered by human beings."
