The Windows Fall Creators Update expands attack detection, investigation and response capabilities across Windows 10 security technologies, Avi Sagiv, principal program manager for Windows Defender ATP, wrote in a June 27 Microsoft blog post. The update’s goal is to stop malware attacks before they impact the system, by using a machine learning antivirus to detect malware on any Windows 10 computer throughout the globe, according to CNET. The antivirus solution will then attempt to develop a way to protect against the malware and send that defense mechanism to a virtual sandbox on the cloud, in an effort to defend other users.
“Leveraging our cloud-based security intelligence gives the optics, context and tools that companies need to quickly investigate and remediate incidents,” Mr. Sagiv wrote.
