Microsoft is giving salaried U.S. employers unlimited time off, The Verge reported Jan. 11.
"How, when, and where we do our jobs has dramatically changed," Microsoft Chief People Officer Kathleen Hogan wrote in an internal memo seen by the news outlet. "And as we've transformed, modernizing our vacation policy to a more flexible model was a natural next step."
The change starts Jan. 16 and means new employees won't have to accrue vacation time, according to the story. Microsoft follows other tech companies that offer unlimited vacation time, including Netflix, Oracle, Salesforce and Microsoft subsidiary LinkedIn.
