CMS Prepares to Survey Providers on ICD-10, 5010

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has requested to gauge provider readiness for 5010 and ICD-10 in an industry-wide survey, according to a Cardiovascular Business report.

CMS has developed a campaign to educate providers about the adoption and transition to Version 5010 and ICD-10, according to the report. The campaign’s activities will target healthcare professionals who must prepare for the transition to the new codes and transaction standards.

CMS believes the survey’s aggregated data will help the agency target its efforts to educate and reach healthcare providers, payors, clearinghouses and vendors.
