Several federal agencies, including HHS, will be taking steps to reflect the guidelines’ goals, according to the White House. Topics covered range from protecting personal data to limiting surveillance.
Five principles the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights addresses:
- Americans should be protected from unsafe or ineffective automated systems.
- Algorithms should not be discriminatory and systems should be used as designed in an equitable way.
- Citizens should have agency over their data and should be protected from abusive data practices through built-in safeguards.
- Citizens should be informed whenever an automated system is being used on them and understand how it contributes to outcomes.
- Citizens should be able to opt out of automated systems.
