Galveston-based University of Texas Medical Branch has signed a five-year agreement with Microsoft to enhance its AI and cloud capabilities.
An initial project will move the four-hospital system’s Epic EHR to Microsoft’s Azure cloud. The deal will also allow University of Texas Medical Branch to quickly adopt new custom technologies like AI.
“Most people think of IT services as the people who keep everything up and running, but pushing innovation down to individuals is a huge part of our mission,” said George Gaddie, vice president and CIO of University of Texas Medical Branch, in a May 2 news release.
