Rockville Centre, N.Y.-based Catholic Health and GE HealthCare have signed a 10-year, approximately $500 million strategic partnership, known as a Care Alliance, to modernize imaging and diagnostic technology across the six-hospital system.
The agreement, unveiled July 16, will add more than 1,300 pieces of equipment across Catholic Health’s hospitals and ambulatory sites, including AI-enabled MR, CT and PET systems, hundreds of ultrasound units and expanded nuclear medicine capabilities at St. Francis Hospital & Heart Center in Roslyn, N.Y., and Good Samaritan University Hospital in West Islip, N.Y. About 50% of the equipment will arrive during the first three years, with contrast-enhanced mammography and upgraded maternal-infant monitoring at Good Samaritan expected within the first year.
“This Care Alliance represents an important investment in the future of health care on Long Island and reflects Catholic Health’s commitment to innovating in ways that improve how care is delivered,” said Gary Havican, interim president and CEO and COO of Catholic Health, in a July 16 news release.
GE HealthCare will also embed a cardiovascular scientist with Catholic Health clinicians and provide a 10-year multivendor service agreement covering more than 40 sites, including St. Charles Hospital in Port Jefferson, N.Y., St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, N.Y., St. Catherine of Siena Hospital in Smithtown, N.Y., and Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre.
GE HealthCare called the deal one of its largest Care Alliances with a U.S. health system, building on prior work with Catholic Health, including its early adoption of the PET imaging agent Flyrcado.
