The collaboration will pair the Infosys Nia platform, which uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to automate complex business processes and data management, with UIUC’s expertise in the areas of computing systems, bioinformatics and genomic applications. The goal of the partnership is to develop new solutions to improve preventive care and predict treatment outcomes.
Under the partnership, Infosys will also become a member of UIUC and Mayo Clinic’s joint Center for Computational Biotechnology and Genomic Medicine.
“The future of precision medicine, which allows tailoring diagnosis and treatment to each patient in order to optimize outcome, is dependent on the ability to jointly analyze large datasets of heterogeneous biological and clinical measures while incorporating key clinical domain knowledge. This is a complex challenge and will require innovations in both data-driven analytics and system design to succeed,” Ravishankar K. Iyer, PhD, a professor of electrical and computer engineering at UIUC and co-director of the CCBGM, said of the partnership.
