How an HCA subsidiary and Kaiser share medical data

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente will place its physicians and staff at Denver’s HCA HealthONE Rose Medical Center and Presbyterian St. Luke’s Hospital starting in 2025, allowing Kaiser patients to receive care directly within these facilities.

This move is part of an expanded partnership, announced on Oct. 7, aimed at enhancing access to affordable care for Kaiser members in central Denver hospitals. While the operational specifics are still being finalized, a key component of the collaboration is strengthening IT infrastructure and ensuring seamless interoperability between the two health systems.

A Kaiser spokesperson told Becker’s that several HCA HealthONE facilities already have integrated electronic health records with Kaiser, facilitating more coordinated care.

Additionally, both Kaiser Permanente and HCA HealthONE participate in the Colorado State Health Information Exchange, allowing providers from both organizations to access and review a patient’s medical history regardless of their previous treatment location.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
