HHS partners with cloud portal to create 'most comprehensive catalog of health data'

Healthdata.gov, HHS' data repository, has partnered with cloud communications company GovDelivery to create a portal enabling better access to health and social services data to improve innovations and transparency.

Beyond updating Healthdata.gov's technology for a better user experience and improved access to data, HHS was looking for a way to drive audiences to the data portal, according to a news release.

"Government resources should be openly available and reusable," Damon Davis, director of the HHS' Health Data Initiative, said in the release. “We're looking forward to capitalizing on our communication opportunities through GovDelivery to amplify the health innovation message and drive a larger audience to understanding how much data are available to them."

GovDelivery's Open Data solution is now the backbone of HHS' most comprehensive catalog of health data, including more than 2,000 data sets from CMS, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the CDC.
