The 2010 e-prescribing incentive program allows individual eligible healthcare professionals to submit data on their adoption and use of a qualified e-prescribing system on one program measure. If an eligible professional reports the e-prescribing measure for at least 25 unique events, he or she is eligible for a 2 percent incentive payment.
CMS’ proposal would apply to the 2011 e-prescribing quality measure and provide additional hardship exemption categories for eligible professionals and group practices during 2011 for the 2012 eRx payment adjustment due to a significant hardship. The proposed changes also include an extended deadline for submitting requests for consideration for the two significant hardship exemption categories.
